This nectar is said to give the honey an amazing healing effect, along with health promoting and antibacterial properties. This honey has been used by natives of New Zealand since ancient times, both for internal and external use. The term MGO stands for methylglyoxal and shows the strength of honey’s good qualities, including antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties.
MGO™ 400+ Manuka Honey is certified to contain at least 400mg/kg of methylglyoxal.
Scientific evidence has confirmed methylglyoxal as one of the key compounds naturally occurring in New Zealand manuka honey.
Methylglyoxal is only found in significant quantities in some manuka honey and levels can vary greatly, so testing and certification of each batch is important to guarantee methylglyoxal content.
